It all started one September night after attending a family gathering. We ventured onto the highway going 60 mph, when we began to notice a fog shifting toward us. The fog was thick and gray and soon overtook our sight, leaving us driving blindly into the night. Expecting the worst while enduring sheer terror, I could overhear accidents nearby, anxiously waiting to be hit.
We both glanced at each other in despair.
Felicity: “What? Should I put it in park?”
Febe: “I don’t know I don’t know..”
Another car rammed into us before our car twisted into gut wrenching turns. My lower leg submerged in agony while I screamed for my sister.
Felicity: “Luna!!”
All I could do was scream in pain.
Febe: “Help!! Lissy!!”
From a young age I was nicknamed Luna because of the way I hid in the dark while we played hide and seek in the minifarm. While our parents fought, that was our escape. My sister's screams seemed to fade out on top of the sound of a siren that echoed across the bridge. I didn’t know where I was nor could I see what was coming my way. I turned over on my left side when before I knew it another car ran over me, leaving me to fight for my life in the midst of the hayhem taking place.
I couldn’t remember much before blacking out. Upon regaining consciousness, Lissy stumbled to her feet as she was subjected to the aftermath of the horrible events. Little did she know it was only the beginning. She continued searching for me beyond the bridge, where she had her first encounter with Greg. Forgotten Hollow was a hell pit and she unknowingly found herself in its grasp.
Once they'd met, I’d reawoken and I’d been turned. The wrath of the undead’s attack had died down for now after killing tons of civilians. Everyone had been taken by surprise from their 1st plague and this was one of many throughout the area. News stations across the nation were cautioning to stay indoors which is what seemed like the safest choice. Through an upsetting revelation, Felicity roamed toward the mountain where she wouldn’t be detected.
Learning that she was pregnant set her out on a mission to claim her new life in which she felt was her destiny. Her and Greg now bonded in a special way even with him being gone. In order to convert herself, she needed to end her life as a mortal being. The undead population consists of suicide and murder victims, so those were her two options. Her fate lay unsealed as she passed through thick brush leading to Forgotten Hollow.
Not knowing her way around, the village lies hidden in the heart of the forest, its presence masked by the veils of mist and twilight. As you approach, the trees grow taller and the silence deepens, until finally, the village emerges before you, its crumbling spires piercing the sky like skeletal fingers. As she crept up upon a gated fence, her eyes became fixated on the glowing eyes throughout the riverbank. Assuming they were apex predators, she made the realization that she was surrounded.
Even past the fence, gaining reassurance that she was trapped. Within minutes, she was attacked by multiple crocodiles and dragged into the water. Eventually the thrashing caught the attention of armed guards who were put in place to make sure nobody passed through. They came to her rescue as she drowned. Soon enough the thrashing stopped, and she was nowhere to be found.
Deep under the water, the last thing she saw were badly decomposed bodies grasping onto her legs as she panicked for air. Although she’d lay her life down, never in a million years did she expect it to end like this. After her pulse had run silent, she descended into a new understanding of her surroundings. All of her past lives flashed before her until her eyes reopened tightly. Her past lives calling her, she arose with poise from the riverbank.
Soaking wet and drenched, she wandered through the complex village. Now able to see her fellow villagers, she anticipated the opportunity to gain thorough immortality. The army fought vampires with a mix of sunlight weapons, like UV light projectiles, and traditional weaponry blessed with holy symbols. They used silver stakes, traps, and strategic formations to outmaneuver their supernatural speed. The army slowly approached as she prepared to be reunited with Greg.
I was waiting for her in the ash pit, when she suddenly appeared from the left corner of my eye.
Febe: “Lissy!”
Felicity: “I must go..”
I noticed her pregnancy.
Febe: “What do you mean? Now? Your.."
Felicity: "Yes, too much to explain... I promise you we'll be together again.”
This decision took me for a whirlwind. Not having much time to react before the commotion of the army closing in on us became more apparent. The feeling of abandonment was all too real, yet I prospered on into the night shapeshifting into a grizzly bear. I ventured out further and further until I reached Clementine Bay, a small town based off agriculture. I knew I needed to be on guard at all times as I sifted through the backcountry.
