As a lone hiker and environmental journalist, I realized my fellow enthusiasts saw me as an up and coming spokesperson for the trekking community. I was requested to visit the forbidden land of the Velacia mountain. Throughout certain points, there have been multiple reports of disappearances, but with my high tech gear, and emergency software I decided I’d be efficient enough to take on this journey. Growing up I was a hitchhiker and oftentimes found myself in sticky situations that I managed to wiggle out of, so I thought this wouldn’t be any different. My quest began on the 22nd, and I knew I’d be able to get incredibly rare shots I could add to my catalog.

Today was the big day I thought. Morning dew was still in the air, while I’d just packed all the materials I would need. My lucky star pendant gleamed in the shimmering sun as I passed though dirt hills leading me to a nearby camping spot called West Elm. I chose that location as a rest spot and decided I would camp there for the night, when I spotted a young lady staggering in my direction. She seemed out of sorts and I asked her if she was okay.
Before she could say anything, she collapsed on the ground before me. I instantaneously checked her vitals, as I grew aware that she was dehydrated. After carrying her back to my tent, I gave her water from out of my backpack. When she finally came to, she’d mustered up the strength to let out her first words to me.
Ruby: “I’m sorry.”
Keith: “Don’t be.”
Ruby: “I just went for a walk and got lost trying to make it back to my campsite.”
Keith: “Well we can find it together, how does that sound?”
